"33 years ago my husband started a new job that came with a new insurance plan. We hadn't had a Family Physician at the time and I wanted someone who could treat the entire family. Looking through the list of providers, none of the ones near us were accepting new patients. We chose Dr Phillips because he was close to our ages and if we liked him we could have a long term relationship. Even though he was 20 miles from our house this was our best decision ever. He always listens to to what we have to say and provides excellent service to treat us or calm our fears. His nursing staff has always been excellent and personable. I don't know how we got so lucky with a blind choice but I am so glad that we did. "

What is Primary Care?

There are several kinds of primary care doctors. Which specialty you search for depends primarily on your age:

Adults see internal medicine doctors (also called "internists").
Babies, children, and teenagers see pediatricians.
Seniors see geriatricians.
Anyone can see a family medicine doctor.

Primary care doctors see people for check-ups, physical exams, or routine bloodwork. They also help people with chronic illnesses manage their conditions.

Primary care doctors are very important. If you haven't seen a doctor in a while, you will most likely start with a primary care doctor. If you have medical problems or concerns, your primary care doctor can diagnose you and refer you to the right specialist for further consultation.
