Endocrinologist - Cypress, TX

"Dr. Vega has been my endocrinologist for over a decade. I have followed her to 3 different offices and every time I switch jobs I pick the insurance plan that has her as in-network provider. She is thorough and honestly the best doctor I have had in my lifetime. She asks new questions every time and always takes the time to answer all the questions I have about my thyroid disease."

"I was unsure of changing my medication, as my free and total thyroid levels were in the same range (normal) that they have been over the past 20 + years I have been on thyroid medication and been in range and good. For some reason my TSH is dropping. I agreed to do a lowering of my medication to see what that would do. Was doing ok until maybe 2 months into the new dose. I started having serious hypothyroidism symptoms. My hair was falling out, was colder, sleeping more, what I call my hypo headache, and my thyroid was swelling up. Contacted her about this. She just insisted no change be made to my medication, no care about my wellbeing or health. Told me to get a second opinion instead. Which I will do but I have other autoimmune conditions that are more serious right now and needing to be attended to. My thyroid is still swelling. It doesn't swell outward, it pushes inward and feel pressure on my windpipe, since it destroyed itself and atrophying back in the early 2000's. It is uncomfortable. I have not had this experience since I started my dose of medication and brand back 10 years ago. I had been physically very stable. My heart rate is lower, no hyperthyroidism symptoms at all. So, I will be finding another provider who will listen to the patient. She could have said go ahead and get your labs drawn now so we can see where you are. She could have worked to modulate my tsh with my symptoms by alternating the doses to get me in a good place, but she just brushed me off. I am extremely sensitive to tiny shifts in T4 levels. I am certain that dose decrease was entirely too much for me. She may be a good diabetic numbers kind of endo but I would avoid for special cases with your thyroid. I have many good doctors that help take care of me. Sadly, Dr. Sandoval was not one of them. "
