"Owais Khawaja M.D. While attempting to place a Stent, by going through the wrist of my right arm, he punched a hole through the side of the blood vessel. He then had the Anesthesiologist wake me up, while I was still on the Operating Table, so he could get my permission to go in through my groin and finish the job. When I next woke up, I was in the ICU and in EXTREME pain because Dr. Khawaja had decided not to treat / repair the damaged vessel. My right hand and arm were filling up with blood and putting pressure on the muscles and nerves. The hand and arm continued to fill with blood for the next four hours. The pain was EXCRUCIATING at that point and Dr. Khawaja still refused to correct the problem and offered me Tylenol for the pain. I was sent home the next day, with Tylenol. My Post Opp. Visit was a week later and the hand, arm and pain had not improved. Fortunately I had some pain pills at home to get me through that week. I explained to Dr. Khawaja that I was still in a great deal of pain, that the swelling was not going down and that the location where they had placed the I.V. port had erupted the night before. My bed looked like I had butchered an animal in it and blood was running down my arm and dripping off my finger tips, as we spoke. I asked him to properly bandage the I.V. location and he said “I’m not that kind of Doctor and I don’t keep bandages in my office” and then suggested that I stop on my way home to pick up bandaging material. He did prescribe some pain medication BUT wrote the prescription on the wrong form and CVS would not fill the prescription, fortunately Rite Aid would. Three weeks later, I took myself to my local Emergency Room and they took one look at my arm, called for a Helicopter Ambulance and flew me to another Hospital where they repaired the damage to my arm. Long story short, I now have permanent nerve and muscle damage to my right hand and arm. ( I am right handed) AND this whole thing has cost me over $8,000.00 out of pocket. Khawaja is an Egotistical, Incompetent, Butcher."
